Blind Date Setup (a scene from a story)
She walked right past him on her way into the foyer of the Italian restaurant. Why does everyone think Italian food is perfect for a first date was what Stephanie asked Krystal as she told her the plans for the blind date.
“Seriously Krys how cliché to have a blind date at an Italian place. You know I’d be totally fine with a sports bar or shit even just a bar,” Stephanie says to her best friend.
“Oh hush you will be fine. Jake said Bart was excited and even suggested it. So just dress sexy, not in jeans and a t-shirt for crying out loud and call me immediately after,” Krystal replied.
“Fine. But what kind of name is Bart anyway, I swear he better not be a serial killer,” Stephanie said as she looked through her closet.
“Ha ha ha very funny. He just arrived at the unit about three months ago and everyone said he is cool. We had him over for a small get together for the Super Bowl while you were at that conference a couple weeks ago when he asked me if so had any girlfriends. Of course I thought of you immediately. Believe me he is super sweet and girl he has gorgeous blue eyes,” it was Stephanie who laughed as Krystal surprised her with that comment.
“Krys I have never heard you talk about another man like that. What would Jake say?” sarcasm dripping out of Stephanie’s voice as she held her hand to her heart and the other holding the phone.
“You should hear how the whole team talks about this man’s eyes,” Krystal continues. “He swears they are not contacts. Just wait you’ll see him and know exactly what I am talking about.”
“If you say so crazy. Ok I better go before I’m fashionably late to my date with the serial killer blind date Bart. If you don’t hear from me send the hounds,” Stephanie says with sass in her voice.
The restaurant was dim and beautifully decorated with reds and gold throughout. She had never been here before since she tries to avoid most high end places and blind dates for that matter.
“Hi there I’m actually waiting for my date at the to arrive unless he already has,” Stephanie says to the young beautiful blonde lady behind the hostess station in the foyer with a little nervousness in her voice
“It’s your lucky night, that man by the door in the black jacket and grey slacks has been waiting on his date,” she motions with a wave of her hand. “He said it was a blind date. Are you waiting for a blind date or can I take him?”
Stephanie turns toward the door she just walked through to notice a man with dark hair cut longer than most military guys she knows. However, she knew it was him the moment she looked into his eyes. With his tanned skin, dark eyebrows, and long lashes his unique emerald green with a blue hue had every woman turning their heads. She stood staring at him before realizing he was walking in her direction as the hostess made the attention more than noticeable in his direction.
